Valerie Pompey

Valerie Pompey has served as the Chief Deputy Clerk of the Supreme Court of Maryland since February 2023. Prior to this position, Valerie worked in the Maryland Administrative Office of the Courts as the Special Assistant to the State Court Administrator from 2017 to 2023. Valerie’s career in the judicial system began in Delaware where she worked for the Delaware Department of Corrections as a law librarian/paralegal at the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution from 2015 to 2017. Valerie earned her J.D. from Delaware Law School and her Bachelor of Arts from Hampton University.

Public service and continuing education have always been fundamental aspect of Valerie’s life. Valerie became a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, an international service organization dedicated to service to all mankind in 2011. She is also current member of the Mid-Atlantic Association for Court Management, the National Association for Court Management and the National Conference of Appellate Court Clerks. She is also a member of the International Association for Court Administration where she has served as the Chief Secretary Officer since 2022.

Valerie completed the National Center for State Court’s Institute for Court Management (ICM) Program in 2022 and successfully completed the ICM Fellows Program in 2024.
