Suzanne Schneider

Serving IACA as its Chief Financial Officer since early 2023, Suzanne Schneider has also served on the Nominations and Elections Committee and chaired the Ad Hoc By-Laws Review Committee.  Before retiring, Suzanne was the Chief of Staff to the Chief Judge of the Court of Appeals and to the State Court Administrator of the State of Maryland from 2015 to 2022. She also served as the Assistant Court Administrator; Differentiated Case Management Coordinator; Family Division Coordinator; and Juvenile Division Coordinator for the Circuit Court for Montgomery County, Maryland.  Prior to her work in the Maryland Judiciary, Suzanne was an Assistant State’s Attorney in Montgomery County, Maryland, prosecuting financial and high-tech crimes while also serving as the Office’s Administrative Services Coordinator.

Suzanne’s international work includes initiating the ABA-CEELI Criminal Law Reform Program in Uzbekistan as a volunteer liaison for and serving as the first resident country director for the ABA-CEELI Rule of Law Program in the former Soviet Republic of Georgia.  She completed long-term consultancies for the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime’s Criminal Justice Reform Unit and the International Atomic Energy Agency’s Programme of Action for Cancer Therapy (PACT).  Suzanne also was a consulting expert on a USAID judicial strengthening project in Macedonia and, domestically, a U.S. Department of Justice Criminal Courts Technical Assistance Project in Alabama.

Suzanne completed the National Center for State Courts’ Institute for Court Management Court Executive certification in 2014 and further was certified as an ICM instructor and taught its human resources and high performing courts courses.  She was admitted to the practice of law in Maryland in 1993 after graduating from the Georgetown University Law Center earlier that year.  She holds a Master of Arts degree from the Johns Hopkins University Writing Seminars and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Rice University.

In addition to her voluntary service on IACA’s Executive Committee, Suzanne has served for more than a decade as Vice-President of Montgomery’s Miracles, a non-profit organization supporting the basic needs of participants in local problem-solving courts, and as a literacy tutor at an elementary (primary) school with children whose first language is not English.
