Michele Oken Stuart

Michele Oken is an Administrator for the Los Angeles Superior Court, State of California.  For the past three years, she has held the position of Site Administrator at the Van Nuys East Courthouse. As Site Administrator managing a district courthouse, she is responsible for the day to day operations and decision making, working closely with the judicial officers, staff, and community partners.  Ms. Oken oversees multiple litigation types: Family Law, General Civil, Small Claims and Unlawful Detainers (Landlord/Tenant).  Prior to this, she was assigned as an Administrator for the Court’s Central Civil Operations in the downtown Los Angeles area, managing over 150 clerical staff.

 From 2006-2011, Ms. Oken was the Administrator for the Los Angeles Superior Court’s Interpreter Services Division, managing the assignment and supervision of more than 400 court interpreter employees and contractors in approximately 100 languages in 45 court locations.  Prior to that assignment, Michele was the Managing Court Reporter and assisted in overseeing 650 court reporters and their assignments.  And finally, from 1981-2001, she served as an official court reporter for both Municipal and Superior Courts in Los Angeles County.

 Michele is a Past President of the National Association for Court Management (NACM) and for the past six years has chaired NACM’s International Subcommittee.   She enjoys spending time with family, especially her five grandchildren, taking long walks and has a passion for music and theater.
