Conference Agenda

The International Association for Court Administration (IACA) will sponsor an International Conference in Astana, Kazakhstan on 17-18 September 2019. The agenda will feature a mix of plenary and concurrent breakout sessions on September 17th. On September 18th, IACA conferees will meet jointly with conferees of the International Judges Association

Court Research Workshop (Optional Event on September 16)

An optional Court Research Workshop will be held from 14:00 - 17:00 on the 16th of September. This workshop aims to provide a supportive environment for academics and others researching in the field of court or judicial administration to present and receive feedback on their research, and develop international networks with other court researchers, court administrators, and judges. It provides an opportunity to hear about current research in the field, provide feedback and contribute to the development of research that aims to improve the functioning of courts and the administration of justice. The discussion will be led by the following participants:

Prof. Dr Anne Wallace: ‘Researching the Courts: Approaches, Methodologies, and Reflections.’
Prof. Dr. Philip Langbroek: ‘Mirror meetings in courts: feedback from court users for judges and court staff.’
Dr. Tim Bunjevac: ‘The Emergence of Service-Oriented Judicial Councils and Their Role in Supporting Judicial Control of Court administration.’
Dr Gar Yein Ng: ‘Judicial Performance Evaluation: the experience of the Western Balkans.’
Judge Hamed Mohamed Mahmoud: ‘Judicial management of the case.’
